ABOUT
Hi, I’m Rob Dale, founder of Devon7t4, a motion-led design studio built on creativity, craft, and a fair bit of stubborn determination.
My creative journey began in the quiet wilds of Devon, in a small village called Dalwood, where curiosity and imagination were my first tools. With the encouragement of my late mum, the driver of my creativity, and my dad, the ever-enthusiast and believer in me, I followed a path from Torquay Tech (BTEC) to Croydon College of Art & Design (BA Hons), and eventually to the restless, electric pulse of London’s creative industry.
I started out as an ad designer, cutting my teeth on layouts and typography before joining a small but ambitious studio producing DVD and CD artwork for Universal Pictures, DreamWorks, and Def Jam Records. It was fast-paced and sometimes chaotic, but it taught me everything about design, business, and creative resilience.
After two rounds of redundancy and a fair share of agency life, I took the leap into freelancing. Over the years, I worked my way through the FMCG and advertising worlds (Unilever, P&G), designing for brands that lived and died by visual impact. Somewhere along the way, I fell headfirst into motion design, teaching myself frame by frame, late into the night, until it became my creative home.
By 2013, I’d had enough of doing things the “agency way.” I wanted to build something that moved at its own rhythm, agile, independent, and deeply collaborative. So I founded Devon7t4 Design Limited, a remote-first creative studio built on the idea that good design moves, literally and emotionally.
At Devon7t4, my work is guided by a simple belief: that great design doesn’t have to shout. It’s about clarity, rhythm, and purpose, a simple design ignited by passion and creative process. Whether it’s a cinematic brand film, a digital rollout, or a looping social animation, everything starts with that same principle: to create design that connects, resonates, and moves.
After more than two decades in the creative industry, I still love the process, the collaboration, the craft, and the small details that turn an idea into something people remember. These days, I do it not just for the love of design, but for my two daughters, the driving force behind everything I create, and the reason I keep building, exploring, and pushing new ventures forward.
It’s not about being the loudest in the feed, it’s about creating work that stops the scroll and starts a story.
